Greening Lee-on-the-Solent

Phase 1 of the Greening Campaign has been completed in Lee-on-the-Solent. Residents were challenged to commit to five different targets, each of which were simple to achieve and makes a significant impact on carbon emissions and water usage.
Total committed CO2 savings amounted to 35 tonnes – in volume terms, this is the equivalent of 35 hot air balloons or 35 3-bedroom houses. Water savings amount to over 500,000 litres per year. All together from these challenges, residents will save a total of £9,000 in annual fuel bills.
During the campaign a committed group of volunteers has been formed and they have decided to continue working to help residents save energy and help the environment. They will be working as an independent group rather than as part of the national Greening Campaign.
