Queen Alexandra Hospital - Open Day

Your health: Your hospital

Following the fantastic success of the Open Day held at Queen Alexandra Hospital last year, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and its Council of Governors are delighted to announce that a date has been set for the second Trust Open Day.

More than 500 people attended the event in November last year and had the rare opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and get an insight into areas of the hospital’s services and departments not often seen!

And this year will be no exception. The event will take place on Saturday 2 October between 11am and 3pm and offer visitors the opportunity to see at first hand how the hospital operates.

During the day there will be tours around various departments including the Fracture Clinic where visitors will get to see how plaster is made and how it is applied to a patient; one of our new digital keyhole operating theatres; the maternity department; the pathology department and others.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet and talk to members of staff and volunteers who will be on hand to answer any questions.

A range of information stands and activities will be on show throughout the hospital. The ‘signing on’ and starting point for the various tours will be in the atrium at the Main Entrance. For further details of this event >>>

There will also be an opportunity to sign up as a Trust member, so bring your family and friends.

Chairman David Rhind said: “The many visitors to last year’s Open Day told us it was a great success and that we must repeat it. This year's event will be on 2nd October and will be better than ever. We would be delighted to show as many members of the public as possible our first class services for patients and our departments. Come and see for yourselves the marvellous work that the hospital's staff do for the people of Portsmouth, South East Hampshire and beyond!
