Lee-on-the-Solent Residents' Association (LoSRA) has granted some money to the LOS Infant S
chool to plant a fruit orchard in their grounds. On Thursday 9th February, each class will plant a tree in the orchad and by 2:30 pm all trees will be in and will culminate in a formal handing over of a cheque to the school.
This project has been carried out with the invaluable help of Groundwork Solent who have worked (and will continue to work) with the children to look after and manage the orchard as part of their education. LoSRA has a youth fund which from time to time is used to support youngsters in this area. The School and LoSRA have invited media presence at this event to publicise the project.
You might also be interested to know that on the 8th February, children from the LOS Infant School will be at the Alver Valley, planting a hedge along the new entrance path into the Valley. The pathway has a picnic area which includes log seating, Information boards as well as a rock climbing feature for children to play on. All of these have been provided by LoSRA, again with the help of Groundwork Solent.
